THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would like to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond her legal profession as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
